The health benefits of Dance.
Studies show that obesity levels are reaching epidemic proportions. With ever increasing numbers of people being diagnosed with cardiovascular issues such as Type 2 Diabetes and Hypertension it is imperative people adopt a regular form of physical activity in their daily lives.
So how can Dance help. Throughout the centuries dance and music were well recognised for their healing qualities, both physical and psychological. Unfortunately over the last century this recognition had waned and dance was looked upon as being something for entertainment values only. Thankfully over the last 15 years this sentiment has dramatically changed and dance is once again recognised for its health benefits. Studies are proving it's mind and body restorative qualities are extremely effective and are now becoming formally recognised.
Dance is a sustainable form of physical activity because it's fun, invigorating and has a huge advantage over many other forms of exercise in the way of variety. It helps increase physical attributes such as endurance, flexibility, muscle strength and tone. Increases things such as spatial awareness, coordination, cognitive thinking and general well being.
In short, dance has the power to make one feel whole again.
